The highly awaited Powerful Pen Media Chapel election had at last taken place on the 7th July 2021, as Mrs Udeme Clement came out as the first elected chairman of the Powerful Pen media chapel.
The election which was observed and supervised by the Chairman of the NUJ Lagos state, Mr Leye Ajayi and his executives took place at the NAGAFF Secretariate in Apapa, Lagos.
Udeme who contested with Lucky Onyeji won with 17 votes, as against 12 votes by Lucky Onyeji.
Other winners at the election are: Mr Asuquo Nuwak, who ran unopposed as the vice Chairman, of The Powerful Pen Media Chapel, Mr Silas Onuoha, who was elected as Secretary General, Dili Utomi as Assistant Secretary and Mr Patrick Onugbor(unopposed)as Financial Secretary. Other winners at the election are, Mr Joseph Njoku, Internal Auditor and Mr Ossy Onyewenzi who became the new treasurer.
The contestants were sworn into office by the NUJ Chairman, Mr Ajayi who urged the newly elected members to close ranks with other members to ensure the upliftment of the chapel.
In his remarks, the NUJ Chairman, Lagos Council, Mr.Leye Ajayi, tasked the new officers on performance and teamwork if at all they would love to be given a pat on the back at the end of their three years tenure.
In her inaugural speech, Mrs. Udeme Clement promised to carry every member of the Chapel along, urging members to give her team their support to enable them move the Chapel to a greater height.
