TIPC Extends CSR To Secondary School In Kankon, BADAGRY ……Distributes School Bags And Umbrellas

The management and staff of Nigeria ports Authority(NPA) on Thursday visited 10 schools in Tolu school complex Olodi Apapa, Lagos as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility(CSR).

Addressing the students during his visit, the Port Manager, TCIP, Engr. Ibrahim Yunusa Anji expressed the authority’s determination to support educational drive for schools within the community as he advised students to be steadfast in their studies and hold on to reading as one of their hobbies for a brighter future.

Items like textbooks, notebooks and writing materials were distributed to the students from the ten secondary schools visited to mark these seasons NPA Corporate Social Responsibility(CSR).

He urged students to make good use of the textbooks as tools to aquire more knowledge adding that some of the textbooks should serve as reference materials for research works as it will be kept in the libraries.

Engr. Yunusa noted that CSR is the key function of the NPA and management team and the authority is very keen to empower students. He prays for the students brighter future to surpass that of their parents.

Presenting the items to the school authority, Director, School administration in charge of Agboju Amuwo District, Lagos, Mrs. Yekini Sherif thanked the management of NPA as she noted that NPA has been supportive to most secondary schools within the complex , she disclosed that NPA has in recent time built three blocks of classrooms for one of the schools in the complex.

Also speaking, the representative, NPA Internal Audit department, Mr. Yusuf Mohammed explained that while they resorted to share notebooks to students instead of text books is that they don’t read at home, so the text books are to be kept in the libraries noting that students focus more seriously reading in the library than at home.

Stating further, he said that NPA has done more in the past reaching schools and communities through Corporate Social Responsibility(CSR) like scholarship awards, equipping schools etc, adding that the exercise comes twice in a year and department that is in charge takes it up.

Mr. Mohammed lauds NPA for these initiative, saying that he is glad to be part of the exercise.

Ten schools that benefited from the CSR exercise include, Adeolu Secondary School(Junior), Tin can Island High School(Junior), Alakoto High School(Junior), Reservation Secondary School(Junior) and Expressway Secondary School(Junior), others are: Unity Secondary Schools, Oshodi Senior Secondary School, Bola Ige Millennium Secondary School, Oluwa Memorial Senior Secondary School and Newland Senior Secondary School.
