The Maritime Journalists Association of Nigeria (MAJAN), on Friday 26th November, 2021, at Presken Hotels, Ikeja, Lagos, elected a new set of executive members to run its affairs for the next two years.
The election is sequel to the expiration of the tenure of the last administration which expired since April 25th, 2021.
It was gathered that the
move became necessary to save the association from collapse following the failure of the last executives to conduct election and hand over power to new executives.
The newly elected officers and their offices are as follows:- Alhaji Tunde Umar Daniah, President, Mr. Udochukwu Onyeka, Vice President, Mr. Dilichukwu Utomi, Secretary, Mrs.Chinonye Anyatonwu, Financial Secretary.
Others are Mcanthony Onuoha, PRO, Alfred Omenihu, Assistant Secretary; Mrs. Anne Ejuka, Welfare Officer, Mrs. Victoria Silvanus, Treasurer and Mr.Azeez Itokpa Suleiman as provost.
In his acceptance speech, the President elect Alhaji Tunde Umar on behalf of other elected officers promised to run a transparent and an all inclusive administration assuring that his administration will do everything possible to right the wrongs of the past administration.
In his words, “1 thank you all well meaning members of MAJAN for finding me worthy to lead these noble association, I promise that I will lead for just a single tenure of two years within which we would by the grace of Almighty God and with cooperations of members return the lost glory of MAJAN;
” I will run an open and transparent administration where all members rights and obligations will be obeyed in accordance with the provisions of the true MAJAN constitution”.
The election which was devoid of any rancour has been adjudged the freest and fairest in the history of the association.
