The Nigeria Customs Service, Federal Operations Unit Zone ‘B’ has intercepted 73 locally produced Guns and 891 Cartridges canceled in a truck of locally produced rice in Yauri, Kebbi State.
In a press release issued by the Customs spokesman, Deputy Controller of Customs, Joseph Attah, stated that the seizures was made along Yauri, Zamare water side, Kebbi State, through a reliable information from the Crack Operatives of the service.
According to Attah, the intercepted truck was loaded with locally produced rice with some sacks hiding the prohibited items concealed under the rice.
” Upon careful examination, the bags were found to contain 73 locally produced Guns and 891 Cartridges”.
The Customs Area Controller of the Unit, Compt. Hamisu Albashir, warned smugglers and trouble makers not to test the will of the Unit under his watch, as he describe the feat as signal to all those who may be planning to bring any harmful items into the Country.
Three suspects were immediately arrested and are being detained while preliminary information is going on.
Attah calls on members of the public, especially border community dwellers to provide credible information for effective border security.
